In verse 12. Goes as follows: “In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, or of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, his illness was a very serious, yet in his disease did not appeal to the Lord, but trusted the doctors.” II Chronicles 16
Foot disease, kills the king!
What happened to him?
Asa rested with his fathers and died in the fortieth year of his reign.
Bishop what does this event has to do with me? Everything to do!
He was a king, was a king in Israel, it wasn’t an unbeliever king it was a king who had access to the promises of God, God’s commandments, who had access to the temple that was built, the temple of God, the house God. But he did not recognize that only he could not, he did not recognize. Only, that disease, which was a single disease, a disease of the foot, toes.
But that was aggravated, and instead of seeking help in God, to seek God, no! He did not. But, he sought help in the doctors, he sought refuge in the medical and died, a disease foot, killed a king! When the human being does not recognize that without God he cannot, even a chilblain, until an ingrown toenail, even a little hair of the feet that ignites, kills the person.
In other words, something simple that could have been resolved. Something simple that could be overcome, if only he as king had done something.
What we all need to do, whether the king, or a servant of the king, or have any other common person is, simple. Recognize that without God you and I cannot.
Bishop is there a problem? Does God become upset because he appealed to physicians, doctors relied on? No. There is no problem when you go to the doctor, you do a treatment, you trust doctors.
But do not stand on medicine, do not rest on what money can buy, do not to rest on the knowledge in their diplomas. There in his office there in his house. Do not stand on their experiences, don’t to rest on the man, because if you trust the man, you become cursed!
Cursed be the man who trusts in man. Is what is written.
He could have used Doctors. But he should have trusted in God. He did not, he chose not to seek help in God. But he chose to rely on doctors. That was great because he had resources, he was king. The king has the best doctors, have the best on offer.
More did not solve the problem. But suffered two years and died.
And we’re talking about it, because you and I, we all have the best resources. You and I are like a king. I’m not understanding. Yes, you and I, look at me. We have knowledge of all the promises of God. You and I have knowledge that gives you a good, pleasing and perfect will of God for our lives. For our well-being, spiritual, emotional, sentimental, family, professional. Or not? Yes, we have all at our disposal the faith; we have at our disposal the name of our God. Revealed to us and he said that everything that we ask the Father in His name believing we will receive.
We have at our disposal the Word of God; we have at our disposal all the necessary resources.
The support of the church, the support of pastors, of the wives of the parstors, the members. You are like me; we have all the resources needed to overcome our problems, to overcome our mistakes. Because no one is perfect. Fixing our mistakes, learn from our mistakes. We must overcome our mistakes and forget our mistakes. But we must not forget what we learned from our mistakes. Because if not we will die tomorrow with a foot disease. Tomorrow we will die with something insignificant, and that is unacceptable for you I know the truth; we have the name of God, and know our rights that are written in his word. Or not?
His son saw that his father’s bad example and the Bible call the son, not his son. Not the Son of Asa. But the son of David. Why the son of the king was called the son of David and not the son of Asa? Because his father was a loser! His father was a troubled man! That cannot overcome a foot disease. Not a chilblain could overcome. But became infected and eventually killed him. Poor fool, because it relied on doctors and did not want to look at God’s help.
The son grew up and watched it. – My father believed in God but he failed because he dint recognized that alone he couldn’t. I recognize that alone I cannot. I need God.
And he sought to God. How did David. King David. Remember King David? And call him the son of David. Chapter 17 verse 3: The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of David his father, and did not seek balaains.
Jehoshaphat was the son of Asa, the king who died of foot disease. But do not call him son of Asa, but call him son of David. Because he was not problematic, it was not a failure; he was not a king he said. – I do not need help. I need God. Only I cannot. I will not make the mistake that my father made. I will not let a foot disease, or a head disease, a heart disease, hands disease kill me. How it killed others, I will not allow my doctors, my wealth and my throne or my title of king to maintain my life. Because none of this can maintain or preserve anyone life’s.
How many Christians, how many people now in this moment are dying little by little?
Due to an error that you committed a sin, sin that is very small if you have acknowledged and confessed and had not overcome, and that sin would not have worsened and would not have generated other errors, and today you would be well, happy, strong, strong in your faith.
But you didn’t want to overcome that little sin, so that can I say. With your own forces, with your own resources, with your own wisdom, I know how to pray, I am a worker, I am a pastor, I am an evangelist. There are people today who are serving God by being brought for me. I mean, do you support in your position, or relied on your knowledge, your support is in what God has done in your life and not in what you are.
To God, it is not important what we do but what we are.
We must do all that, but to preserve our faith, our fellowship with him because nothing is more important than our salvation.
Everything comes, everything goes. But salvation is eternal.
Jehoshaphat he said. Then in verse 4: First, he sought God of his father, not his father’s wing, but his father David, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
Because the country was corrupted, because his father was corrupt. The faith of the people were corrupted, because the faith of his father was a corrupt faith and was not a true faith, he believed in God but believed it on his own way.
Then he spoke: – No, I’ll look to God. I will reflect on David was a great king. I’ll get to God, as he looked young and became a great king.
That is why the Bible calls him the son of David.
He sought God and found him.
The Lord confirmed the kingdom in his hands. Verse 5: And all Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, who was, please read: wealth and glory in abundance. You see money is not everything, he had wealth because God blessed him, but he also had glory, the glory that his father had not.
The father had wealth, but had no glory, because he had corrupt faith, had unbalanced faith, had a faith that rested on what he had and not in God.
And God blessed him and he magnified. Verse 6: He became her bold heart to follow the path of the Lord and also removed the high places and groves of Judah
Then he grew, his faith grew, his life was also growing, his reign was growing up, his example of a man, a king, a husband has gone up.
Made a mistake:
Jehoshaphat made a mistake. He allied himself with a king who was not good, we all make mistakes. Correct? But he did not know that this king was ill. Apparently the other king was good, it was a friend, and he went and made an alliance with the other king. The other is King Ahab.
In the next chapter you see, and then: This king had problems with another country with another king, only that this other king was very strong, and then raised war against Israel.
And Ahab said to him, Jehoshaphat, look, I need you in this war and what I will do is the following:
You will dress in my clothes, with my armor king of Israel. Because he was king of Judah, not of Israel.
- And I’ll dress like a soldier and I’m going to battle as well. But nobody will know who I am, because I’ll be with a soldier armor and not the king armor.
What is different, that stands for all, right?
Jehoshaphat was sorry, Jehoshaphat was sorry because the king said that he had hurt in the heart of the prophet, the man of God.
Because every time that King Ahab called the man of God to speak of the precepts of God, the man of God spoke the truth and it hurt him.
Because he did not trust God, he trusted himself. Then he said: – I hate this prophet. When he spoke it. Jehoshaphat then realized that this king was ill on the inside was rotten, as one day his father was also rotten.
He tried to break that covenant. But not too late.
He went to battle, dressed in the armor of the king.
And, you know what happened? For you to understand. If you go to chapter 18 verse 28, the next chapter.
Went up, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
And the king of Israel unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, then go to the battle: thou, but put your real clothes. Disguised himself as the king of Israel, and to the battle. He ordered, however, the king
Syria’s masters of cars that had, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.
Jehoshaphat was now dressed in his armor.
Look at that situation, Jehoshaphat now had all the Syrian army against him. Imagine an army against one man.
Cowardice, injustice! Yes or no?
He made a mistake and now he was paying. But he was smart.
Let’s see what happened?
King Ahab was a coward, disguised himself as a soldier, put another weapon.
When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they did not know it was him. He said: – This is the king of Israel. Therefore, for he went to the attack.
Jehoshaphat however, he did, did not listen, what?
“And the Lord took care of him” How beautiful! Not true?
God from him, how can one lose one man army of view.
Can you explain, please? A miracle! The supernatural happened! God turned an entire army, because he did something so simple. But just as important to God. He acknowledged.
God, I was wrong, I got involved with people I should not have been involved. I made a mistake. I judged by appearance.
But after he said that he had hurt of thy servant was then that I realized that it was rotten and now? Now I’m here the more I do not run away from battle. Dressed in the armor with him the more I cry for help.
God the sculptor and the rescued.
When you recognize that you alone can not and screams for help. God does not slap the ear.
You made a mistake. He hears and frees you from the evil of death.
Because he wants you happy, he wants you out, he wants you to overcome this weakness you have as a man.
He wants you to overcome these errors that you commit as a woman. He wants you to learn from your mistakes, he wants you to grow as a human being.
But it allows you to move on I trouble you learn to recognize that without Him, you and I, we cannot. Without it we cannot!
Let us know what happened to the poor fellow of King Ahab? The coward, and he kept hurt in the heart of the man of God?
When the captains of the cars that was not the king of Israel, no longer chasing him.
Then one man drew a bow and firing at random, (Oh my God, what happened?) Smote the king of Israel between the joints of his armor, then, told this to his coachman, Turn me and takes me out of combat, I am badly wounded.
(So a Syrian soldier, Jehu drew his bow and arrow was. Do chance came just where? The gap that existed between one number and one of the armature. Looks like it’s evil! Be that see? Evil people like that. The things do not happen by chance, things do not happen by chance. Ill knew that this man had a grudge in his heart against the man of God. Ill knew that the king relied on his army at full strength. In his reign and not God. And the evil has taken advantage of and used one, an arrow, which was the hit of death.
A brechinha yours brechinha a mine, a negative thought, a thought of self-sufficiency, a sense of pride, a sense of sorrow, revenge, feeling a little one to deceive and take advantage of the ignorance of others. It’s enough to make you die, yet, do you die with all his position, even with all the resources at their disposal. But he still remained standing). As the verse 34: He was bleeding to death.
The battle became fierce that day, as the king, held himself in his chariot against the Syrians, (I mean it was only in appearance, apparently was standing, was alive. But inside was already dead ) and says, but at the setting sun, (I did not hear! Bishop I did not understand anything. You and I are one of the three: Either you are:
* Asa who died with a disease of the feet. A simple thing. But that would not recognize.
* Or are you Jehoshaphat, who makes mistakes, but that fix their mistakes and grow and recognizes that without God you can not. You get up and continue your journey, your walk with Christ. Because he does not expect perfection from anyone. But, wait yes, recognition, confession, contrition, sincerity.
* Or are you an Ahab of life. What are you hiding behind a shield. But do not forget that the armor has holes and there goes the arrows. That kills any human being. As thoughts and examples that I gave minutes ago. Is already in the mind or heart.
God brought you to the UCKG HelCenter, like me, that you are aware that without it we can do nothing.
Christ himself said: That without me ye can do nothing.
In other words. With me you can do everything.
Is not it wonderful? That king Jehoshaphat, he learned his lesson. It was a great king.
It’s your life, your marriage is, the family is on your responsibility, you decide. If you are going to die of a disease in the legs. If you are going to be like King Ahab, hiding. Until there be a disaster, a disgrace. Or if you will be like Jehoshaphat. Learn from your mistakes. And scream for help, as often as needed.
For help, I need and I’m here.
And God will not deny, because he is the father.
God be with you!

His servant in Christ, Bp. Caesar
